FAQ

Good questions, answered

Where exactly is the house?

Hidden Valley Farm is on a quiet dead-end road in Dry Fork, West Virginia, off WV-Route 32 (the Appalachian Highway) — about 5 miles from Canaan Valley, 8 miles from Timberline, 15 from Blackwater Falls, and 20 minutes from Dolly Sods.

How many people does it sleep?

Up to 10 guests across 4 bedrooms — including a bunk room that sleeps 4 — with 3 full bathrooms.

Has it been renovated?

Yes — a new kitchen, two completely renovated bathrooms, and a new hot tub, plus all-new mattresses and cotton linens.

Is there Wi-Fi and a TV?

The house has fast Starlink satellite Wi-Fi and a smart TV with Roku — stream from your own accounts (please remember to log out before you leave). Cell service in the valley is spotty, so download Google Maps before you leave Davis or Elkins and plan to use Wi-Fi calling.

Is there air conditioning?

No A/C — the mountain nights are cool, and the queen bedrooms have ceiling fans. There's a wood-burning fireplace for cold weather.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes — it's dog-friendly, at $65 + tax per dog.

Is the house good for groups skiing Timberline or Canaan Valley?

Yes — it's ideal for big groups on a ski trip. The house sleeps up to 10 and is about 8 miles from Timberline Mountain and 5 miles from Canaan Valley Resort, with White Grass cross-country skiing about 8 miles away. There's a dedicated mud room for stashing all your ski and snowboard gear — boots, poles, helmets, and wet layers — plus a wood-burning fireplace and a hot tub to thaw out in at the end of the day. A 4WD or AWD vehicle is recommended in winter.

How do we get in?

Entry is by smart lock, and keys are picked up from the MountainTop Realty office on Rt 32 (about 7 miles south of Davis).

What are check-in and check-out?

Check-in is after 4:00 PM and check-out is by 10:30 AM unless arranged in advance.

What's the cancellation policy?

A refund less a $50 fee with at least 30 days' notice; no changes or refunds inside 30 days. An optional $75 damage waiver covers accidental damage up to $3,000 if reported before check-out.

Do we need a special vehicle?

In winter, a 4WD or AWD vehicle is recommended — the rural road can take a while to get plowed.

What's there to do?

Skiing at Timberline, Canaan Valley and White Grass; hiking in Dolly Sods and Blackwater Falls; trout fishing in the Dry Fork River; rafting, zip-lining, and live bluegrass at the Purple Fiddle in Thomas. See The Area.
